Parent/Carer Support

Family Liaison Officer (FLO)

Hello, my name is Kim Hill and I am the Family Liaison Officer for Oakley School. I work across all of our sites; Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Skinners' Kent Primary School (SKPS).

My aim is to establish positive relationships with our parents and carers, I am here as a point of contact to support and work in partnership between you, the School and other professionals.

I can help to support with a wide variety of issues, not just those connected with education. I work directly with parents in a non-judgmental way, by providing information, help and advice in many areas such as health, parenting skills, finance, relationship breakdown and employment. I have links with a number of external services including social services, benefits agency and housing and I am on hand to help with paperwork or accompany you to meetings – this is all done in strict confidence (subject to safeguarding guidelines). I am available for informal chats, drop-ins, appointments or home visits, where required. I have a good listening ear so please feel free to visit me and say hello, I want all our families to feel able to contact me at any time.

Many Parents and Carers of Special Needs children and young people feel isolated and alone, with this in mind I organise activities and events for parents and carers. We facilitate a number of free workshops and information sessions such as Sensory Workshops, Makaton Coffee Mornings, Online Safeguarding Training, Coffee Mornings/Afternoons and a regular Healthy Eating Lunch Club in which parents prepare, cook and eat together. These ‘free’ sessions allow you the parents to come and meet members of our staff, including teachers and therapists from Oakley and experts from our external partners, but most importantly gives you the opportunity to meet and support each other to share experiences and advice. Dates for these events are revised regularly and appear on our school website.

If anyone has any ideas or requests for me, I will be delighted if you let me know; I am here for you all and can only do the best job in conjunction with you, our families here at Oakley.

I can be contacted on 01892 823096 or alternatively email to, I work Monday – Friday 08.30am – 3.00pm.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Kim Hill
