The Government’s Primary PE and Sport Premium continues to provide funding to primary schools to improve the quality of physical education, physical activity and sport for all pupils. Schools are expected to use this funding to make sustainable improvements that increase pupils’ participation in physical activity, develop staff confidence and expertise, and promote healthy, active lifestyles.
At Oakley School, we use the funding to enhance our PE and enrichment offer, ensuring that all pupils have access to high-quality physical activity opportunities that are appropriate to their individual needs and abilities. The funding also enables us to access specialist coaching, adaptive sports provision, staff training and additional resources that enrich the curriculum and support long-term improvements.
Through our PE curriculum and wider enrichment programme, pupils across all key stages have opportunities to participate in a diverse range of activities, including swimming, tennis, gymnastics, fitness, adapted games, golf and indoor climbing. These experiences help pupils to develop physical skills, confidence, resilience, independence and a positive attitude towards lifelong participation in physical activity.
As a special school, we recognise the significant role that physical activity plays in supporting pupils’ physical health, emotional wellbeing, communication and personal development. We are committed to ensuring that every pupil is able to access meaningful and enjoyable opportunities to be active and experience success.
