Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
In the last couple of weeks Holmes Class have been working on their enterprise skills and have planned, organised and ran two events to raise money for Aspens. They have raised an incredible £104 and that's before the two additional events they are planning for the Summer. The students received a wonderful e-mail from Aspens, thanking them for their support.
Oakley pupils and staff embraced RED NOSE DAY on Friday, 19th March. Children donated £1 to wear their own clothes with a mixture of silly socks, mad hair and red garments. Staff wore red noses (not easy with face masks), wigs and silly socks, much to the delight of the children, particularly at morning transport! There were lots of fun activities during the day, including cake decorating, sensory play and so much more. In total we raised £247.77 - thank you to everyone who supported us.
Ash Class have made Hedgehog houses. Pupils used cardboard boxes and covered them with black sacks to protect them from the weather. They cut ventilation holes and an entrance and they collected sticks, twigs and leaves to cover the boxes. The houses are now in situ in the Phase 2 garden and other classes have been to admire them. We have shared the work with the RSPB and it will contribute to the Schools’ Wild Challenge—we only have one challenge left before we can get our Bronze Award!
This week Phase 2 have been planting potatoes as part of the national Grow Your Own Potatoes 2021 competition. The competition is to grow the heaviest weight of potatoes from one bag in both a national and regional potato variety - we are using Casablanca (National) and Bambino (Regional). The best part is that in June, when the competition ends, we get to eat the potatoes! Good luck everyone!
