  • Oakley School helps families in Ukraine

    Fri 25 Mar 2022

On Thursday 24th March, representatives from Oakley School drove to Folkestone with all our donations for Ukraine.  From there they will be loaded onto artic lorries to Poland and hopefully provide some support and comfort to the people of Ukraine. The response to our appeal, part of the Kent Association of Headteachers (KAH) appeal, was overwhelming - THANK YOU to everyone who donated and thank you to Kestrel Class who sorted, boxed, labelled and transported all of our donations.

  • Oakley School wins Silver Awards in RSPB Wild Challenge

    Fri 11 Mar 2022

Last year we won bronze, but this year we have won silver: "We love the variety of bird feeders you have made. We hope you see them encourage more wildlife into your outdoor spaces. Thank you for your amazing efforts. Every action you take makes a real difference". Well done everyone, particularly Phase 2!

  • What a difference a day makes!

    Fri 11 Mar 2022

On Thursday 10th March two members of staff from the Kent High Weald Partnership and seven volunteers spent the day in the garden of the Tunbridge Wells site remaking our old cross pollination project bed.  The bed was originally designed by Oakley pupils some years ago and had been left to grow wild.  The volunteers cut everything back, took out what was dead or dying or no longer required and replanted with sensory plants such as lavender and lamb's ear.

The difference is amazing and we know that staff and pupils are going to enjoy watching the new plants grow and the bed take shape once more.

We would like to send a great big Oakley THANK YOU to everyone who gave up their time to come and support us and who also managed to tackle some of the larger areas of bramble at the rear of the garden.

  • Phase 4 Pupils impress at Business Networking Meeting

    Thu 10 Mar 2022

We had an excellent business event for Farah and Murray Classes on Tuesday, 8th March. Pupils met visitors from the Borough Council, McDonald's, a hairdressers and two job coaches from the Department for Work and Pensions. The pupils were brilliant - they listened well, they asked questions and they answered questions. Everyone was extremely impressed with them. Four pupils were brave enough to stand up in front of everyone to talk about themselves and what they wanted to do in the future!

The visitors were all very impressed and left with lots of promises to come back again - hopefully it will be the first of many such events.  Well done Phase 4 and thank you for all your hard work and preparation.

  • Love Where you Live - more trees to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee

    Mon 07 Mar 2022

The Tunbridge Wells Borough Council (TWBC) Love Where You Live team have kindly donated saplings to many groups in the area to be planted as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, including Oakley School! Last week, to add to the trees we have already planted, Kingfisher class planted five of the saplings. Hopefully they will all flourish and have a lifespan that outdoes the Queen's amazing reign! A big Oakley "THANK YOU' to TWBC for our trees. @TWellsCouncil

  • NEW Forest School Play Area

    Mon 07 Mar 2022

We have been creating a new and exciting forest school play area where pupils can work on their fine and gross motor skills and imaginative play. With a mud kitchen, balance logs, a wooden turtle and low branches for sitting and climbing we hope that our pupils will have hours of fun and learning in the woods.

  • World Book Day 2022

    Thu 03 Mar 2022

As always Oakley School embraced World Book Day and we had some fantastic costumes from pupils and staff. As part of the fun, Phase 3 on the Tunbridge Wells site and Phase 4 in Tonbridge decorated their classroom doors as book covers and did such a great job, it was almost impossible to pick a winner!
