Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
On Saturday, 25th June Kingfisher Class entered a kart in the Tunbridge Wells Soapbox Race at Dunorlan Park.
Having helped design and build the kart at Kent College (one of our ISSP partners), they also decorated it in preparation for the race.
Cheered on by lots of Oakley staff and family members, they did amazingly well - winning 3rd place and a trophy for the best looking kart! We even got a mention in the local press!
Super proud of the whole team who represented Oakley School and ISSP so passionately and enthusiastically.
Although we have been eating carrots fresh from the soil all term, today Hawks class had the pleasure of harvesting our first potatoes. They were out of the ground, washed cooked and eaten in 40 minutes with no food miles and just a little bit of butter. The carrots we ate raw and were really happy with the size of some of them. Some classes have also been trying peas straight from the pod and we spotted our first courgette this morning. It's a very exciting time right now in the Oakley vegetable garden!!
Lots has been happening in our garden areas over half term, we have potatoes, peas and courgettes beginning to flower, the onions, shallots and garlic are continuing to grow and the beetroot is looking good. Sweetcorn and pumpkin plants have been added and some strange contraptions to try and prevent the rabbits and birds from getting to the plants. The strawberry plants are getting ready to fruit and we are hoping to have some crops ready before the end of term.
