Our children and young people are at the heart of everything we do.
A very warm welcome to Oakley School. We are the district Special School for children and young people from 3 to 19 years with a wide range of special educational needs located in our Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge (post-16) sites
Our Mission: Children and Young People at the heart of all we do.
Our Ethos: Work Hard, Be Kind, Have Fun & Stay Safe
Our Vision: To give all our children and young people opportunities to engage, explore, discover and develop their independence – to become confident, resilient, happy and well prepared for a positive and meaningful future.
At Oakley School we are ambitious for our pupils and offer a rich Creative Curriculum that is personalised and offers learning in school as well as in the community. Our skilled and dedicated staff team work very hard to make learning motivating, interactive, challenging and fun, whilst ensuring that all our children and young people feel safe, valued and self-confident. We promote “Skills for Life and Independence” so that when pupil leave Oakley School they are prepared for the next phase in their lives and have the best opportunities.
Pupils' wellbeing and engagement is central to all our decision making and how we structure our school and the interventions we use.
Our Wider Curriculum offers excellent enrichment activities including: lunch and after school clubs, curriculum trips and residential experiences in the United Kingdom and abroad. These opportunities provide pupils time and experiences to develop their life skills in new places and with different people in preparation for their next steps.
We work collaboratively across our school community with our Families, Therapists, NHS Colleagues and other professionals and external organisations to support and meet the needs of our pupils.

Early Years Outreach Intervention Service - What will this look like for me and my child?
The Early Years Outreach Intervention Service will provide support for Early Years children aged 3 and above who require additional levels of support.
How will I know if my child needs support?
Your child’s pre-school or nursery setting will know your child well. If they feel your child needs some additional support or adjustments made to the provision they regularly receive, they will have spoken to you.
As a parent if you feel your child is finding things difficult or have concerns, you should ask to speak to your child’s Key Worker or the setting SENCO or Manager about your worries.
All Early Years settings work closely with their link Early Years Quality Advisor (EYQA). If your child does need support, a ‘Support Plan’ will be devised with parent consent. This will set out some short-term targets and outline steps to help your child access provision, play and make progress.
How can I get support for my child from the Early Years Outreach Intervention Service?
If parents/carers, the pre-school or nursery setting and EYQA feel that some further specialist intervention would support your child, this can be discussed together.
Your child can be referred by the EYQA with your agreement to the Early Years Professional Resource Group.
Admissions for children to receive support is agreed by this group. This is a multi-agency approach to allocate the most appropriate support for a child. The outcome of this referral may include an offer of support from the Early Years Outreach Service (EYOS).
What will the Early Years Outreach Intervention Service support look like?
A specialist practitioner from the EYOS will be allocated to offer support. They will contact your child’s setting and parents in agreement.
An initial visit will be held to get a greater understanding of your child’s unique needs and discuss the current ‘Support Plan’ in place.
A bespoke agreement will be discussed that is best suited to meet the needs of your child within their attendance at pre-school or nursery.
A minimum of 6 x 2hour sessions will be offered to support your child before any review is undertaken and next steps agreed.
