At Oakley School we are ambitious for our pupils and offer a rich Creative Curriculum that is personalised and offers learning in school as well as in the community. Our skilled and dedicated staff team work very hard to make learning motivating, interactive, challenging and fun, whilst ensuring that all our children and young people feel safe, valued and self-confident. We promote “Skills for Life and Independence” so that when pupil leave Oakley School they are prepared for the next phase in their lives and have the best opportunities.
Pupils' wellbeing and engagement is central to all our decision making and how we structure our school and the interventions we use.
Our Wider Curriculum offers excellent enrichment activities including: lunch and after school clubs, curriculum trips and residential experiences in the United Kingdom and abroad. These opportunities provide pupils time and experiences to develop their life skills in new places and with different people in preparation for their next steps.
We work collaboratively across our school community with our Families, Therapists, NHS Colleagues and other professionals and external organisations to support and meet the needs of our pupils.

Learning Support Cover Assistants
Working Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week, Term Time Only
Oakley School is the Tunbridge Wells District Special School for day pupils, aged from 3 to 19 years, all of whom have severe/complex needs and communication and learning difficulties.

We are seeking a dynamic, flexible and responsive Learning Support Cover Assistant (our equivalent of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant) to join our friendly, positive and forward looking team. The role will involve providing teaching cover for short term teacher absence throughout the site (Reception to KS4) as well as working closely with the teaching staff to support our pupils in all aspects of their learning, social development, personal needs and developing their skills for life and independence. We are looking for someone with relevant experience and expertise and a degree or relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent, who can demonstrate good teaching and learning experience and skills, to cover the teaching in a range of lessons and subjects. Experience of working in a Special Needs environment would be an advantage, but is not essential as full induction and training will be given.
The position is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term-time only. The salary falls within Kent Range Band 5 (£24,040 - £25,002) and will be reduced pro-rata based on actual hours and weeks worked, plus an additional £1,441.72 per annum SEN allowance.

There are many development opportunities for those interested in career progression, including into teaching and other types of work with children and young people.
The hours are 35 per week working 8.30am to 3.30pm Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, 8.30am to 4.30pm on Tuesdays, and 8.30am -5pm on Wednesdays with half an hour lunch each day. The post is term time only; 38 weeks plus 5 staff training days.
