Digging Day at Oakley School

What an amazing day we had on Saturday 23rd September.

We had staff with partners and children, parents, pupils and siblings, over 30 of us in total.

We built picnic benches to use in our outdoor spaces which were supplied by the Friends of Oakley, reclaimed slabs from our new Discovery Zone were laid around the herb bed to keep down weeds.

The main focus of the day was digging over the area behind the far polytunnel to prepare it for seeding with wildflowers. Wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow of weeds and roots were dug out in preparation for seeding in the Spring.

The Friends of Oakley provided food and drink (Thank you!), the weather was good and there was a helpful and fun atmosphere.

Sue, our Forest School teacher, would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everybody who came to support the event and who worked so hard to make it a success.

With lots of offers to come back again we will hopefully run a similar event in the Spring.
