Our children and young people are at the heart of everything we do.
A very warm welcome to Oakley School. We are the district Special School for children and young people from 3 to 19 years with a wide range of special educational needs located in our Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge (post-16) sites
Our Mission: Children and Young People at the heart of all we do.
Our Ethos: Work Hard, Be Kind, Have Fun & Stay Safe
Our Vision: To give all our children and young people opportunities to engage, explore, discover and develop their independence – to become confident, resilient, happy and well prepared for a positive and meaningful future.
At Oakley School we are ambitious for our pupils and offer a rich Creative Curriculum that is personalised and offers learning in school as well as in the community. Our skilled and dedicated staff team work very hard to make learning motivating, interactive, challenging and fun, whilst ensuring that all our children and young people feel safe, valued and self-confident. We promote “Skills for Life and Independence” so that when pupil leave Oakley School they are prepared for the next phase in their lives and have the best opportunities.
Pupils' wellbeing and engagement is central to all our decision making and how we structure our school and the interventions we use.
Our Wider Curriculum offers excellent enrichment activities including: lunch and after school clubs, curriculum trips and residential experiences in the United Kingdom and abroad. These opportunities provide pupils time and experiences to develop their life skills in new places and with different people in preparation for their next steps.
We work collaboratively across our school community with our Families, Therapists, NHS Colleagues and other professionals and external organisations to support and meet the needs of our pupils.

Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Staff and pupils of Oakley School were keen to ensure that the trees that had to be cut down during the summer, to make space for our new classrooms, were replaced.
Having put our heads together, we found the Woodland Trust Community Trees Scheme. We applied for a small copse pack, thirty trees to plant in our field and hopefully create another wildlife area at the back of the school.
We were delighted that our application was successful!
Teams of pupils and staff have been busy planting and Oakley would like to say a huge thank you to the Woodland Trust for providing us with this amazing resource.
Thank you to everyone involved in the organising of Children in Need day and thank you to all our parents and carers for their support and donations. Together, from the gunge voting, cake sale and donations for wearing our pyjamas, we raised a fantastic £427.67 (compared to £355 last year). Well done everyone!
Everyone is having a lovely time. They have raked hay, harvested beetroot, squash, tomatoes and cucumber. They have peeled and cleaned onions, done some gardening, visited the farm and saw cows and calves (some were only hours old!). They have enjoyed snacking on lovely flapjack and played football in the fields at break time and are now baking bread to go with their dinner! The children are loving it and some have asked if they can stay all week! They are getting a little tired from all the activities so they are going to have some down time after baking and before dinner. Then after their lasagne it's time for a night walk looking for bats and a campfire (where they will be enjoying pop corn and marshmallows!).
Skills for Life and Independence is at the heart of everything we do at Oakley School. We believe that providing our children and young people with opportunities away from home provides them with positive and challenging learning and social experiences in new environments. Our aim is to offer a variety of experiences and progression that help to develop our children and young people to extend their skills and promote their well-being, positive attitudes and self-confidence.
And so, with that in mind, our Year 6 pupils headed off this morning, Monday 8th October to Bore Place. They have had a lovely morning, hay raking and having a tour of the site. This afternoon they have some play time and a visit to the farm! Smiles all round so far, with one of the pupils saying "Oh I love it here!"
