  • A cracker of a Christmas Fair!

    Fri 13 Dec 2019

Thank you so much to everyone; families and staff who supported this year’s Christmas Fair on Saturday, 7th December, not to mention all the local businesses, sponsors and individuals who donated some amazing raffle prizes!  The atmosphere was wonderful—we forget sometimes what a treat it is for our pupils and their families to socialise in a safe and fun environment and what better time of year to do that than at Christmas.

We had Father Christmas visit us, we had a chocolate tombola that ran out of chocolate it was so popular, wonderful arts and crafts and edible treats, made by pupils from 2 to 19 years old, a bouncy castle, books, DVDs, cakes and gifts for sale.

Everyone’s generosity and affection for Oakley School was so heart warming.  Thank you. A special thanks, also has to go to The Friends of Oakley, our PTA, they worked like troopers before, during and after the Fair and as a result raised a magnificent £2,842.79.  Well done and thank you everyone.

  • Oakley School welcomes "Kermit"!

    Thu 05 Dec 2019

On 27th November Oakley School received an early Christmas present of a shiny new minibus from this region’s Lords Taverners' charity.

Many members of the district’s business community who support The Lords Taverners gathered at Oakley School where the bus arrived full of singing and chattering members of the school council. The giant key was then handed over and the VIP’s were taken on a tour of the school where they met many exceptional pupils, got to understand the ethos and character of the school and couldn’t help but be motivated by the energy and enthusiasm they witnessed.

To finish off the presentation the guests were treated to a musical performance from Oakley’s singing and signing choir and an enormous thank you card from the Year 1 Caterpillar Class.

Due to its vibrant “Lords Taverners” green colour the bus has been affectionately named “Kermit"!

  • Move over Sam!

    Mon 02 Dec 2019
As part of our Children in Need activities, some of our children won the opportunity to take over a staff role in the school. Last Friday, 29th November we had two Year 2 pupils who rose to this challenge and did a fantastic job covering for Sam, our Head of School for the morning. Sitting in her office they made telephone calls, signed and distributed pay cheques, carried out a learning walk to make sure all the children were having fun and gave out the 'Star of the Week' certificates in assembly. One member of staff asked if everyone could go home early and the response was a resounding 'no', the same as the answer to 'please Sir can I have a pay rise?' They were absolutely fantastic and a real highlight of the day on Friday.
